“Stay out of My Business” is a movie with a profound message. It narrates a series of plots between believers and the religious pastor and elder about whether they should investigate the true way. The relationship between the pastor and believers in this movie is different from the friendly and gentle relationship in the same type of religious movies.
In this movie the pastor and believers launch many debates regarding a variety of truths. The excellent and incisive debates about truth and exquisite characterization have explained the problem, the majority of Christians want to understand most, that why the pastors and elders of the religious world ceaselessly disturb believers and obstruct them from studying the true way. It is really a good movie which Christians shouldn’t miss.
The movie opens with an arresting, which immediately brings me into the plots. The phenomenon that the dignified religious pastor joins with the CCP police to arrest Christians is really unbelievable. As believers in the Lord, who doesn’t know that this behavior is done by Judases who betrayed the Lord and his true friends? The pastor has served the Lord for many years but this deeds really make me puzzled. The scene also makes Li Qingxin and a co-worker who see it accidentally shocked greatly. Li Qingxin can’t understand: The believers of Eastern Lightning just testify that the Lord Jesus has returned and expressed words to do the judgment work in the last days. But why do the pastor hate them so much and have to cooperate with the atheistic government to arrest them? At this moment, she is lost in thought. In order to figure out the truth, she decides to actively investigate Eastern Lightning. She believes that only by doing this can she make sure whether Eastern Lightning is the return of the Lord Jesus and is the appearance and work of the Lord Jesus.
Watching this, maybe you will think this is merely a film about religious believers seeking the true way. If you think so, then you are wrong. If it is really like this, with the leading character seeking out and looking into the true way and having found the footsteps of the Lord’s work, the film should be drawn a perfect conclusion. However, the fact is far from being so simple. Li Qingxin is the major co-worker and has high prestige in the church. And the church led by her always gives the largest donations each month. If the believers all believe in Eastern Lightning and no one makes donations to the church, as for the pastor and elder living of the gospel, that is the same as losing their jobs and no one is clearer than them on that. So, when Li Qingxin and other believers investigate Eastern Lightning, how can the pastor and elder just stand by and let them do that?
Facing the desolation of their church and feeling no presence of the Lord, a group of people represented by Li Qingxin act according to the Lord Jesus’ word “seek, and you shall find;” said in Matthew 7:7, and actively seek out and examine the true way and seek the footprints of the Lord’s work. Yet when facing the church becoming desolate day by day and the believers receiving no supply in life, the pastor and elder led by Pastor Qiao are indifferent for the sake of defending their own interests and preserving their own positions and jobs. But when the believers seek the way out by themselves and have found the Church of Almighty God that has the work of the Holy Spirit, the pastor and elder try every means to hinder them. Why on earth do they do that? In the film after Li Qingxin awakening, the words she says lay bare the essence, “The pastor and elder are too lacking in reason. When we were weak and passive, they had never put that much effort into us. However, now as soon as we accept Almighty God, they are actually red-eyed with fury and use both the carrot and the stick to disturb us endlessly, which let us cannot be quiet. They are really detestable. Thinking that they are too evil, it looks as if they will not give up until they pull us into hell.” It is because of the conflicts between them that the subsequent plots and the clear debates about truth are even more absorbing, which can make the audience understand some common phenomena existing in the religious community nowadays at the same time as watching it. In order to obstruct Li Qingxin and other believers from investigating the true way, the pastor and elder implement employ as many means as they can, such as arranging snitches to track them, using emotion to canvass, going to their house to disturb and threaten them again and again, intending to pick them off by threatening to expel them from the church or report them to the police to arrest them, and so on. I really cannot imagine these all come from the hands of the pastor and elder. It can be said that in all people’s eyes the pastors and elders are synonymous with humility and kind-heartedness. They speak in a gentle and mild way with a smiling face forever and always put on a respectable manner before others. Yet, the words they say and the things they do behind others’ back really make me surprised! No wonder the Lord Jesus exposed that the Pharisees were hypocritical and said that they purposely prayed standing at crossroads, “But all their works they do for to be seen of men: they make broad their phylacteries, and enlarge the borders of their garments” (Mat 23:5). The Bible also records many hypocritical behaviors of the Pharisees, and at last the Lord Jesus also denounced seven woes against them. Comparing with these hypocritical behaviors of the Pharisees, I surprisingly find that nowadays the acts of the most pastors and elders in the religious community are so similar with that of the Pharisees.
In the video, there is a plot I love most. It is the scene of the first time Pastor Qiao bringing some people to Li Qingxin’s home to disturb them. At that time, Li Qingxin and others are inspecting the true way. Everyone’s face brims with happy and released expression and they are all listening carefully. It is originally a very tranquil and peaceful scene; however, a sudden burst of knocking breaks all of this. All people’s expressions transform from joyfulness into panic. In fear and confusion, they hurry to hide the books of God’s words in their hands in the secret compartments, holding their breath and being afraid to even exhale. Li Qingxin walks toward the door step by step. There are only a few steps yet she walks so heavily. She doesn’t know what is waiting for them outside the door. She timidly and nervously asks, “Who is it?” When she knows it is a sister in their church, the expression on her face instantly relaxes; but when she opens the door and sees the pastor and elder, the unexpected and worried expression appear on her face again. In just a few dozen seconds, both the leading character’s internal dynamic and expression change several times. For one thing, I sigh with feeling: The actress’ performance is real and in place; and meanwhile I also have a painful feeling. It is already extremely difficult to believe in God in China, such a country ruled by an atheist party: The believers need to stand guard against being arrested by the CCP at any time. And more awful, now the pastors and elders of the religious world even join hands with the CCP police to arrest Christians. How can they not be panic? Such behaviors seem to be no different than the despicable behaviors of the Jewish chief priests, the scribes and the Pharisees colluding with the Roman government to arrest the Lord Jesus and His disciples when He came to work two thousand years ago. The pastors and elders actually has become the modern religious Pharisees!
There is no more wonderful highlight than the several debates between Li Qingxin and the pastor and elder. They engage in debates concerning the truth closely related with the Christians believing in God and gaining life, such as “Why do the pastors and elders obstruct believers from investigating Eastern Lightening?” “Are the believers the Lord’s flock or the flock of the pastors and elders after all?” and “Should believing in God and studying the true way be measured according to the words of the Lord or Paul’s word?” As their disputes go deeper gradually, the truth gospel preachers fellowship constantly deepens, and at the same time Li Qingxin’s and the others’ differentiations of the pastor and elder also continue to deepen: At first, they just think the behaviors of the pastor and elder are wrong and go against the Lord’s teachings; then they start to disgust and reject their deeds; finally they see through the substance of the pastor and elder and understand why the pastor and elder obstruct them from investigating Eastern Lightening over and over again. And this let me see that the process of believers’ awakening is also an intense spiritual war. If there is no timely provision of truth, it is uneasy for them to obtain the true awakening.
Simultaneously, the truth of the pastor and elder obstructing believers makes my blood run cold. In particular, the scheme which the pastor and elder hatch on the roof balcony to obstruct Li Qingxin from continuing to investigate Eastern Lightening can be said to be typical. After the pastor says they see that they must use the “unique skill” to obstruct Sister Li, they glare at each other. Seeing their insidious and vicious eyes, I cannot imagine that they are the pastor and elder who are kind to people in the synagogue on usual days. The background music sounding at this time even more shows clearly the tense atmosphere. I am also keyed up for the leading character.
Although the pastor and elder have realized that the Almighty God they themselves resist is most likely the second coming of the Lord Jesus, they are still headstrong and stubbornly continue to resist for their position and income. In order to obstruct the believers they begin a new round of disturbance: They urge the believers in Christ for a shorter time to hand the book of Eastern Lightening to them and they will check it up on the believers; they also threaten the believers who are not deceived by them: “If you continue to investigate Eastern Lightening, we’ll expel you from the church and let all other believers reject you”; and they even tell the believers who don’t listen to them if they continue to believe in Almighty God, they would be imprisoned, suffer the torture and cruel treatment, and even might lost their life. … These absurd actions of the pastor and elder make believers gradually have discernments and see clearly their true hypocritical face. The believers refuse their “good intension” one after another and even say indignantly: “Stay out of my business!”

Through one spiritual war after another, Li Qingxin and other believers eventually awaken from God’s words. They start to resent and loathe the pastor and elder from deep within their hearts and have the determination to reject them and draw a clear boundary line between them. They realize that the pastor and elder are not responsible for the life of them but are ruining their life, so they cry out “Stay out of my business!” from deep in their hearts. This word is not just the inner voice of Li Qingxin and other believers, but even more the inner voice of millions upon millions of Christians who are bound and deceived by the pastors and elders: “This is my life. Stay out of my business! I have the least longing for your care and responsibility for me!”
At the end of the film, the leading character Li Qingxin says to the pastor and elder in stern righteousness: “Stay out of my business!”, which pushes the contradiction of the whole film to a climax and meanwhile draws a perfect conclusion to this contest between the believers and the pastor and elder.
Although this film is over, yet what it remains us Christians are more reflections.
